Which QR code type should I use?
URL
The most common type. Encodes a web address so scanning opens a link directly — ideal for websites, landing pages, social profiles, or online menus.
Plain text
Encodes any text directly, no link required. Useful for short messages, serial numbers, or instructions that don't need to open a browser.
WiFi
Encodes your network name and password so guests can connect by scanning instead of typing credentials — a common sight at cafés, offices, and Airbnbs.
Pre-fills a new email with a recipient (and optionally subject/body) when scanned, saving people from typing out an address by hand.
Phone
Opens the phone's dialer with the number pre-filled — handy on printed ads, vehicles, or signage where you want a one-tap call.
vCard (contact card)
Encodes a full contact card — name, phone, email, company — so scanning it offers to save the contact directly, no manual entry needed. Great for business cards and conference badges.
Frequently asked questions
Are QR codes generated here permanent?
Yes. QR codes are generated entirely in your browser and encode the data directly. They work as long as the destination (e.g. the URL) works — no expiry, no account needed.
Is my data sent to a server?
For standard QR codes, no — everything runs client-side in your browser and never leaves your device. If you create a Dynamic QR code (requires login), the destination URL is stored securely on our server so it can be updated later and scan activity can be tracked.
What size should I use?
300px is fine for digital use. Use 500px if you plan to print — more pixels means the code stays crisp when scaled up.
Can I change the colors?
Yes. Make sure there's enough contrast between foreground and background — low-contrast codes may not scan reliably.
